Castle Goring is an historical, awe-inspiring house of high - ceilinged ornate rooms, packed with a mix of vintage and contemporary furniture and paintings from some of the most famous people in history and we are looking to make contact with them!Castle Goring is a Grade I listed country house in Worthing, Sussex, England. One of Worthing's two Grade I listed buildings (deemed by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport to be of exceptional interest), it has been described by architectural critic Ian Nairn as reflecting "the equivocal taste of the 1790s as well as anywhere in the country.

Castle Goring was designed by John Rebecca for Sir Bysshe Shelley, 1st Baronet. It was intended that his grandson, the renowned poet Percy Bysshe Shelley would live at Castle Goring however, he drowned in Italy aged just 29 so he never took possession of the house. In 1845 Mary Shelley inherited the building.

It was Mary Shelly who after entering a ghost writing contest proposed by Lord Byron to  write a ghost story on a stormy June night in 1816 that inspired her to write Frankenstein, often called the first true work of science-fiction. It was an instant wonder and spawned a mythology all of its own that endures to this day.
