This is the oldest working theatre in Wales a grade 11 lidted building and has had a varied past, the site can date back to 1773. Always had good activity at this location. Not for the faint hearted.
Originally an Abbey stood on the ground where the theatre now stands.
Also the Old Bell Hall Assembly rooms & part of the hotel.
Later operating as a theatre for live variety acts when it was granted an entertainments licence in 1832, Also showing silent movies. Around this time the theater was owned by Charlie Colbourne & John Smith, John being a well known figure around town with his bowler hat & umbrella.
The theatre is still in open today and has just been awarded THEATRE OF THE YEAR 2019/20
